One thing I really do love the Sins of Youth storyline in YJ98 is that really does show how good at Young Justice are at being superheroes.

Because all the adults get de-aged and it’s absolute chaos and they can barely keep their shit together and Young Justice wonders if they’re that bad and the answer is “actually no you’re not, you’re actually doing pretty solid for your age in experience and you’re being held up to an unfair standard that invites more criticism to your actions”

It’s also a fascinating exploration of how adult anxieties are unfairly projected on to teenagers and while they of course still have room to grow and change and mature, the kids are, in fact, alright and actually capable individuals who do need support and guidance but aren’t helpless idiots by any means

In Young Justice 98 comics Match replaced Kon for like three whole issues and no one noticed.

From Young Justice #17 when Cissie packs all her stuff from the cave,

Till Young Justice #19

And carried over untill this moment in Young Justice Sins Of Youth #1

The person everyone thinks is Kon is actually Match.

And this isn't a one off thing Match did, it happened again in Young Justice #38 when Bart and Tim left the team but this time he was jokerized for some reason but the girls still think it's Kon trying to cheer them up (cus they were in a war the last issues)

Superboy comes back all confused because he was having a Heart to Heart with Supergirl on top the statue of liberty

Match does this twice in YJ alone. I can only assume he's done it in other comics too. It's kinda funny but sad like no one notices?

anyway i feel like lots of people's younger-self personalities did not mesh with their adult selves but I do like troublemaker kendra shes perfect

losing my mind because the casskon stuff all happens after steph and cass have their brief friend breakup and after cass tells her she hasn’t had her first kiss yet so i’m imagining after they reconcile cass just being like “yeah so i’ve been dating my way through the young justice team” and steph going “YOU WHAT”

Am rereading Young Justice 1998 (it’s been at least a decade, this is lovely) and just got up to Sins of Youth.

And wow, is it funny, as none of them have as much associated trauma about adulthood and growing up yet. They’re just scared of Nebulous Adulthood, not timeline issues or Turning Evil (again) or the world ending. Such kids!

Tim in Batboy and Robin being unsure if he WANTS to grow up to be Batman, even as the costume is too large for him (Sweetheart even DICK’S Batman costume would still be loose on you, Bruce’s is 100% too big).

Tim. Tim your position on becoming Batman as an adult has SO FAR TO GO.

The other completely Oh Comics aspect of the whole storyline is the decision that Wally just…didn’t get doused with the anti aging chemical that the other Fab 5 did back when they were baby Titans. So that Wally isn’t the only adult left on the JLA and so they can do the age split issue with Bart. But Wally’s simultaneously ON HIS HONEYMOON while all this is going down? Linda refuses even to kiss him? Oh 90s DC, letting your male teen characters perve on adult women but not letting Wally and Linda kiss(!) on their honeymoon as it wouldn’t be right.

(Also the contrast of Wally/Linda ‘this feels off’ compared to Kon/Tana with Tana DYING in this storyline? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)

Bizarre timeline issues due to other events interrupting your plot lines never cease to be funny.

Also I was laughing to myself about how much of the collection of comics and trades I own is ‘the Justice League get turned into kids (again)’. It’s a trope I’m NEVER getting over. Give me more of it.
